PROJECT DETAILS

Historic and architecturally significant buildings in Vancouver are extremely rare—even more rare when offered in the form of loft living, and in an emerging, legacy-destined neighbourhood.

PCI’s latest development, The Exchange is a combination of heritage lofts, as well as newly constructed lofts, situated within the emerging waterside community on Vancouver’s Westside, Southeast False Creek. While maintaining it heritage ties to the past, Southeast False Creek is being planned as a model sustainable community based on environmental, social, and economic principles where people live, work, play and learn.

The original brick structure was constructed post WWI in 1924 for the BC Telephone Company when sawmills and shipyards abounded in Southeast False Creek. The building eventually changed ownership and converted to other commercial uses until PCI purchased the property and its historic structure in 2006. The building, which is part of the City’s heritage inventory, will undergo a full renovation, while maintaining the distinctive early modern post-and-beam stylistic features and architectural significance.

The plans for Exchange include the restoration of the original four-storey brick building, and adjoining it to a brand new, six-storey, concrete-constructed building. The entire development, boutique-sized with only 68 suites, will offer buyers the choice of heritage or heritage-inspired suites each appointed with a deluxe standard package of in-suite finishings featuring an Italian-imported Dada integrated kitchen system, AEG cooktop and wall oven, and frameless glass showers assembled by well-known Vancouver interior designer Alda Periera.
